Impressions
When I visited Brazil with 35 others from b-school in Spring 2006, I remember asking the trip leaders (fellow students who are Brazilian) -- 'How did you get anything done in this place?'. Seriously, Brazil is so much fun that I found it hard to imagine that people actually stay in school and go to the office. We spent three nights in Sao Paulo and three nights in Rio. Having Brazilians among us was great -- a lot was already planned for us like watching the Palmeras play in a soccer game, visiting the cooler bars/clubs, eating at churrascarias (brazilian steakhouses), etc. We also visited the Brazilian Stock Exchange, the offices of InBev, and checked out the Sugar Loaf and Cristo Redentor.

I got to know a bunch of people on this trip over several caipirinhas -- and we created our own party on the last night at a bar directly below our hotel in Leblon (adjacent to Ipanema), which was so much fun that the bartenders kept the bar open beyond closing and joined us in the fun. Apart from the company of friends, good food, a relaxing massage on the beach and the debauchery, what really struck me about Brazil was how friendly the locals were. It was easy to pick up a conversation with strangers who routinely apologized for their broken English (only prompting me to respond with: 'Your English is way better than my Portugese!'). And now that I know people in Brazil, I will definitely be visiting again.
