2005: Barcelona, Spain

Impressions
Barcelona was easily the best part of my trip in 2005. This was my formal introduction to Spain -- about how laid-back and wild it can be at the same time. It was refreshing to eat breakfast at 11am, lunch at 3pm, dinner at 10pm and head to clubs around 2am. We stayed a short hop away from La Rambla, but comfortably away from the throng of tourists. Walked around a ton, visited the Picasso museum, climbed up the freaky stairs of the Segrada Familia, explored the La Padrera, devoured some killer paella, tapas & sangria, and went to random bars purportedly frequented by the likes of Picasso and Dali long ago. What stood out the most for me about Barcelona was the friendliness and laid-back attitude of a city that obviously has a lot going for itself. After a few days here, we hopped on a train to Montpellier, France. We would eventually make our way to other cities in southern France before heading back to Geneva.
